Cookie Policy

We try to keep cookies to a minimum. Here is the full list of what is set, when, and why — and how to opt out.

What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your device. They are commonly used to remember preferences, count visitors, and (in the worst cases) track people across the web. We use them only for the second purpose, and only when you allow it.

Cookies on this site

1. Necessary — set by us, no third parties involved

The site uses localStorage (technically not a cookie, but similar) to remember:

  • eternix-theme — whether you prefer the light or dark theme. Persists until you clear it.
  • eternix-consent — your cookie consent choice ("accepted" or "declined"). Persists until you clear it or click "Cookie preferences" in the footer.

These are essential for the site to work and remember your preferences. They never leave your browser. We don't read them on the server. They contain no personally identifying information.

2. Analytics — Cloudflare Web Analytics (cookieless)

Cloudflare Web Analytics does not set any cookies. It uses an anonymous beacon to count pageviews and measure performance. Loaded on every page that has not been explicitly declined.

3. Analytics — Microsoft Clarity (loaded only after you accept)

Microsoft Clarity provides session replay and heatmaps. It loads only if you choose "Accept all" on the consent banner. If you decline (or have not yet chosen), Clarity is never loaded and no Clarity cookies are set.

If you do accept, Clarity sets the following cookies:

Clarity automatically masks personally identifying text (form input, sensitive fields) in its recordings by default. Microsoft's full statement is at privacy.microsoft.com.

How to control cookies

  • On this site — click "Cookie preferences" in the footer at any time. This reopens the consent banner so you can change your mind. Declining will stop loading Clarity on subsequent page views.
  • In your browser — every modern browser lets you block all cookies, block third-party cookies only, or clear existing cookies. The exact steps differ by browser; search "[your browser name] manage cookies".
  • Globally — browser extensions like uBlock Origin or Privacy Badger can block analytics tools across all sites.

What we do not use

  • No advertising cookies, retargeting pixels, or social-media tracking.
  • No fingerprinting beyond what's required to count anonymous visits.
  • No selling of cookie-derived data to anyone.

Changes

If we add, change, or remove cookies, we update the "Last updated" date at the top and (for material changes) reset the consent banner so you can review.
